npm Blog (Archive)

The npm blog has been discontinued.

Updates from the npm team are now published on the GitHub Blog and the GitHub Changelog.

Cofounders

I’d like to introduce my illustrious cofounders.

Rod Boothby (@rod11) is npm’s COO. Previously, Rod worked on the CorpDev team at Joyent, helping to raise over $100M in funding across various rounds. Rod also helped set up Joyent’s relationships with Dell, Telefonica, Gilt Groupe and LinkedIn. Before that, Rod had a career in finance, working as a consultant with Ernst & Young and as a quant, trader and derivatives systems manager at Wells Fargo Bank.

Laurie Voss (@seldo) is npm’s CTO. Laurie has over 15 years of experience building web services at scale, including 4 years at Yahoo. He and I perfected our lunchtime banter on the Yahoo! Apps team. Most recently, Laurie led the technical team at Awe.sm. He brings deep experience with databases, analytics, and mission critical infrastructure services. He is passionate about helping everyone make the web bigger and better, and has ridiculous hair.

When I was first considering options for how to structure npm, Rod was a great source of advice around the VC/startup landscape. And Laurie and I have wanted to start something together ever since we parted ways at Yahoo.

They bring very complementary skills to the team, but more importantly, they’re two of the nicest people I’ve ever met. In the perfect storm that is npm, I’ve found myself sharing this adventure with both of them.
